Kayla day 29

Busy day today, I had to go in earlier today to see a lactation specialist I have been having some issues with pumping. Unfortunately I found out I have a yeast infection in my breasts, I will have to go on some antibiotics and do some other treatments but Kayla will be fine, she will get antibiotics as well. I will still be able to let her nuzzle and breast feed when that time comes which I am really thankful for. Because Kayla is gaining so well they are continuing to up her breast milk and she is now on 32cc's for each feeding. When I had gotten in to see Kayla she had only had one desat since 7am, amazing but we spoke to soon and she decided to have another one right then. Little stinker. But again they are getting to be less and less and that just makes Mike and I feel so much better. I was able to nuzzle today, Kayla did really well and stayed on for about 15 minutes. It seemed she was swallowing whatever she might have been getting so when it was time for her next feeding they checked her tummy and she had gotten 1/2 a cc of my breast milk. What a big girl we have she should not be able to do that yet but she did!! I hope this means we will have no issues with breast feeding when that time comes (which is coming soon actually.) Mike and I went in later tonight for some daddy time Kayla did really well during her holding and only had one big desat. She has also gained another ounce and is 3lb 8oz. While we were there we were able to talk to Rose, one of the NICU practitioners, we had asked what other big tests Kayla will have to get before she gets to go home. Here's the list: She will get her other eye exam in two weeks, if still immature then another two weeks from then. She will get a kidney ultrasound because they had seen some small spots when she was first born. Another head exam to check on her brain and see about that little gray spot. Kayla is officially unique in that she only has 10 ribs, this is fine, she may have a shorter torso but this won't be an issue as she grows. Lastly they will take a full skeletal x-ray of all her bones when she moves to the open crib, around 4lbs. This will check her bone growth and see how her back is looking. So we feel that's not to bad, nothing to huge, nothing we didn't know about already. So as you know we will continue to update her but she is doing well and as my mom says she is, "sleeping and growing."
